Questioning Techniques – Creating and Keeping Student Engagement in a Seminar or Lecture (LM 14V)

How can you generate participation from even the most reluctant student, regardless of the topic or discipline you teach? Asking good questions will not only help you gauge how well your students are processing the material – but also how well your students are engaged. This short workshop focuses on questioning techniques to engage students and generate more participation in online lectures and seminars. Discover and practice a range of question types in English to support you in your role as a lecturer.

Following this workshop participants will know how to deploy a range of useful questioning techniques to cultivate engagement in a seminar or lecture.  Participants will demonstrate their newly learned skills in a role play exercise at the end of the workshop and gain feedback from all participants.

This workshop focuses on techniques to engage students and generate more participation in lectures and seminars. Here you will:

  • Learn how to generate engagement from the beginning of your lecture or seminar
  • Learn the art of effective questioning and thus encourage all student involvement
  • Practice and perfect the art of asking and answering questions

Visiting scholars, international researchers and lecturers, who want to further develop their international and intercultural competences.

RequirementsParticipants should have English language skills at least the B2 level.
Participants please keep a laptop/ PC with video and audio function or a webcam and headset ready.
CompletionAssuming successful participation, you receive a certificate of attendance.
CertificateApplicable for TU certificate for teaching and learning and for TiE-BAC certificate – Teaching in English.
