Catching the right wind – How to assess your situation and set your goals

Are you certain whether science is your vocation or rather an interim port? Do you know in which activities and in which environment you are at your best, contributing your skills, strengths and enthusiasm? Do you know which values are essential to you in your (future) work? Only by approaching the answers to these questions can you fully develop your potential to achieve your professional goals. Just as Seneca said: „You must know for which harbor you are headed if you are to catch the right wind to take you there.“

Aim
You have gained a resource-oriented overview of your strengths, areas of development and goals, and you have developed new ideas about how to base your individual career plan on these.

Content
Learning contents on your path in the right wind:

  • Destination and route planning: Developing a vision
  • Harbor tour: Assessing the current situation
  • Launching the boat: Diligent preparation
  • Sounding the Line: Checking the destination and values
  • Keeping an eye on the compass: Identifying goal-oriented approaches
  • Toward the sun: Determining strategies for action

Methods
Interactive input, individual and group exercises with coaching methods and other creative methods, exchange of experiences, feedback. Max. number of participants: 12

Notes
We kindly ask you to complete preparatory tasks, which will be distributed two weeks prior to the training via e-mail.
Student workers are welcome to participate, subject to availability of places.

RequirementsParticipants should have English language skills at least the B2 level.
CompletionAssuming successful participation, you receive a certificate of attendance.
